Denise Cueto

Denise Cueto is the host of the podcast Broken: The Suspicious Death of Alydar and the End of Horse Racing’s Golden Age. A true crime junkie, book enthusiast, and animal lover, she was beyond thrilled to see all her interests merge in this one book. As the host, she works closely with cohost and author, Fred Kray, as well as the production team to bring the story to life for the listeners. 


In addition to hosting the podcast, Denise is also a high school English teacher, where she works to instill a love of learning and reading in her students because she knows the impact a good book can have.

Fred M. Kray

Fred M. Kray is a former trial lawyer who specialized in animal law and won the American Bar Association's coveted Excellence in the Advancement of Animal Law Award in 2016. He has lectured on the subject, taught at the law school level, and coauthored an article for American Jurisprudence Proof of Facts

He was introduced to horseracing working at a racetrack in Nebraska while attending law school. He fell in love with a horse named Alydar in Miami, watching him run in the Flamingo Stakes and the Florida Derby. Reintroduced to Alydar’s story when he moved to Gainesville, he spent four years researching, interviewing and writing about Alydar, culminating in the publication of his book BROKEN-The Suspicious Death of Alydar and the End of Horse Racing's Golden Age.
